Santa’s Running To Town

I decided to run the local Santa stride event to gain my 12km of Christmas medal. It's always a fun event and makes running easier! Last year I walked the distance with my young nephews but this year I had the extra motivation of gaining that medal through the post!

There is something great about running with people, even if you don't know them they become motivators, and sometimes pacers. I find I always run faster with others! Even if I am dressed as Santa! If you haven't taken part in a Santa Stride/Run, you are missing out. It's a great experience and open to all abilities and ages.

I managed to complete the 12km needed for the medal by doing an extra kilometre after the finish line. It was a fantastic day! And I managed to do the distance in a great time thanks to the hundreds of other Santa's taking part, I had people in front of me pushing me on to catch them, I had strangers running next to me just chatting away as if we knew each other and because it was an out and back course, on the way back I met some great people clapping and cheering me to the finish line. It really was a wonderful day and confirmed how friendly the running community can be! We are stronger running in packs!
