This has been one of those weeks that is the reason behind this challenge. Being in a running club and having entered 4 half marathons means I get a lot of mileage in but it would have been very easy to do no running this week.

The only evening I could run was at training on Weds. Great session, I ached the next day, but as it was the first session to ease our 0 to 5k graduates into it and was mainly relays so mileage was 1.12 miles.

No time for any long runs this weekend and volunteering at parkrun, if this was last year I'd have just taken the rest. But instead I got up early Friday morning and did 3.24 miles, forgot how nice and early morning weekday run is!. Then managed to squeeze in 2.42 miles on Sunday.

    Total distance 6.78 miles

Sunday 7th July - end of week 27

Absolutely no mileage to add to my challenge total this week, though I did swim 1.09 miles and cycle another 10.36 miles.

All change tomorrow, as my office transfer has happened rather faster than I expected. 9 days ago I was told it would be "at some point in the next 28 days", and on Wednesday (just 5 days later) I was told "you're moving on Monday"!

I'm going to have to take the car in on Tuesday, as someone's dropping off three crisp boxes full of DVDs for me (and I can't carry those home on foot), but I don't plan to use the car as a regular transport method for commuting from here on in.

Recovery from last weekend's half marathon and a week off work (so no routine) meant no running during the week. But a spot of parkrun tourism (3.23) and a social run with Ross Runners (5.83) gave me some mileage.
    Total distance 9.06 miles

Sunday 30th June - end of week 26

    Miles completed this week

    Running - 0
Warm up & Cool down walking - 0
    Commute walking - 0
    Recreational walking - 8.91

Another poor week in terms of mileage, but a great week in terms of making a change to increase it on a weekly basis starting very soon....

On Tuesday I applied for a transfer to another office, and on Friday I heard my application had been successful. The move means that instead of driving 22 miles a day to get to/from work, I'll be walking, running and cycling to/from work as the new-to-me office is just over 1.62 miles each way by the shortest route, and there's an alternative route that's exactly 5km. So that's a potential for anything from 16 to 31 miles a week (less any commutes I cycle). I don't have a date for the transfer to happen yet, but it has to be within 28 days which means before the end of July (giving me 5 months of the new commute to help catch up on my totals). It also means I can do 5k runs as my commute, and they'll only take about the same time as my drives to work do at the moment. So that's less pressure to find time outside of work to fit in my runs. I just need to get my sciatica under control now!!

    Year to date

    Running - 122.03
Warm up & Cool down walking - 14.53
    Commute walking - 67.57
    Recreational walking - 153.89

Total miles for year to date - 358.01
Target for year to date (based on 1000 miles in year) = 495.89 miles in 181 days.

Signed up to this for a bit of extra motivation in this heat. Going to aim to have it done by the end of July. Will be signing up to the Cludo one too. I hope there will be more boardgame ones like snakes and ladders or jumanji or something 😁

So was woken by my 1 year old at 4am to jump into bed with us for a cuddle and back to sleep! What's the point in going back to sleep at that time! A run it is then! Nearly 7 miles later home, soaked through and it's still only 5.35am 🙈😜

Sunday 23rd June - end of week 25 (posted a day late as I couldn't get decent photos in the light last night, and I wanted to include them!)

    Miles completed this week

    Running - 6.27
Warm up & Cool down walking - 0
    Commute walking - 0
    Recreational walking - 0

Other than work, the only exercise I've had this week was the Crazy Cow 10k on 23rd. Organisation was chaos before the date (asked the same question to the organiser on a regular basis, and was always told "I'll get back to you when I have the information" - still hadn't had an answer by the day of the run!). But the route (changed with less than a week to go due to a footbridge being declared unsafe for all use, and being closed by the council) wasn't bad. Chip time was a few seconds faster than my watch, which said 1:19'22 (I'm coming in at around 1:20 at all the 10k runs I'm doing at the moment, so much where I expected to be).

No medal for this one !!! But I did get a cow bell (I signed up because of this being a bit different). I also - for the first time ever - purchased a race T-shirt (loved the design), and also two cow bells from previous years I'll now have to go out and run around home or work to earn (one is a 10k one, the other from the Crazy Calf 1 mile fun run which I'll probably do a 5k to 'earn' as there's no distance on it).

    Year to date

    Running - 122.03
Warm up & Cool down walking - 14.53
    Commute walking - 67.57
    Recreational walking - 144.97

Total miles for year to date - 349.10
Target for year to date (based on 1000 miles in year) = 476.71 miles in 174 days.
