After being the fat kid all my life, 18 months ago I completed a c25k programme.
Unfortunately life got in the way and I didn’t keep it up. Now I’m back, more unfit and fatter than ever but determined to do it.
The plan is to complete c25k in the next 8 weeks and then in April compete 5-10k and by the end of the year have run my first proper 10k race.
I’ve already signed up for my first two medal challenges to get me motivated.

    Wasn’t sure how this evenings run would go, as my legs and ankles were still aching after walking 19km in the wrong footwear (DM’s) while supporting hubby doing the Brighton Marathon on Sunday.
    Got out there and had a decent run though 🐢

    I’ve had a great week. Run 3 times, with a total distance of 15km... that’s the most I’ve done in a week so far and one of them was a track session, which I’ve not done before. Got a “this time round” PB for today’s parkrun.
    Lost 4 1/2lb
    And found out that I’m keeping my job after months of worry.
    Feeling far more positive than I was this time last week 🐢😊🏅

    I’ve been struggling for a few weeks now, feeling like my running was getting worse rather than better. Arranged to run with a friend today and agreed to take it easy. I had the most enjoyable run I’ve had in a while... and when I looked at my strava it was my second fasted 5k 🐢🥈

    So after my disastrous run last night, I decided my weight is really the stumbling block on my running. So I took charge of myself and went and joined slimming world this morning. When I got home, my girl power medal had arrived... I know I earned it and was expecting it but the timing of its arrival made me feel like it was telling me I can take charge of my weight.
    Just need to get myself organised now 🥴

    This may not seem much to anyone else but I went out on my own after work and did 5k. The idea of running near home and on my own freaks me out a bit... but I did it... submitted the evidence for my Girl Power medal too 😁

    Another “this time round” Parkrun PB! Official time 42.40... 1 minute 20 seconds quicker than last time 🥳
    I hadn’t run for nearly two weeks because of having a stinking cold. I really, really struggled today 🤧
    It genuinely worries me that I can walk significantly faster than I can run 🥴
    Perhaps if I tackled the fatness, I might get better at the actual running bit 🤔
    Anyway... I got out there and did it... I might feel good about it at some point but at the moment I’m a bit deflated 😞

    I set up this medal at the beginning of the year to challenge myself to run 5k without walking at all by the end of March. I actually did that on my c25k graduation day in February so had to do it again on 2nd March to get my evidence for the medal! I’ve been waiting for this to arrive since then.
    My medal collection for the year is looking pretty good 🥇😊
    Now I just need to get rid of this stinking cold so I can get out there again and smash my next challenge 🏅🐢

    It’s official!
    I can walk faster that I can run. Walked most of the uphills and beat the last time I did that route by nearly 3 minutes 😂

    Battled the wind and had to walk a bit where I felt I was being blown backwards but I did it. My 3rd Parkrun and a new ‘this time round’ PB. 28 seconds quicker than last time. Was feeling very disheartened at the end of the run because I struggled plus I accidentally had strava set to walk so it didn’t record any achievements but soon cheered up when I saw my official parkrun time 😊

    My challenge this year is all about me feeling happier with myself. Every new year I start a diet, some years I’m more successful than others but ultimately it’s never led to me feeling happy and loving myself.
    This year I want to prove to myself that I can challenge myself and I can achieve things. The focus is on the fitness and running rather than my weight... I’m trying to find my happy place I suppose.
    So, today... on international women’s day;
    I went out for a 20 minute run... I know it’s not much but I hate running on my own!
    I’ve ordered me the girl power medal and I’m going to save it until I do a 5k run on my own.
    I’m learning that I am more strong willed than I thought and I can rise to the challenges I set myself.

    I think most of us women need a little bit more self belief. I’m not quite there but I’m learning 🐢🏅🥰

    Reverse lap to last week. Much prefer it the other way round.
    Feeling really motivated. Graduated c25k nine days ago and this is my fourth 5k run.
    Running club are talking about a 5-10k course in April. Hoping I’ll be fit enough to do it.. that would put me well ahead of schedule 🐢

    So... February:
    The news broke that I might lose my job and stress eating tried to control me 😢
    I got ill 🤒 and spent nearly 2 weeks off track... but I got back on it with the running 😊 (that’s a big thing for me, I’m definitely a defeatist 😔)
    I earned two beautiful medals 🏅🥰
    Plan for March:
    I’m going chocolate free for the month 🍫❌
    I need to sort my eating habits 🤐
    Running at least twice a week 🏃🏻‍♀️
    I need to submit evidence of a 5k run for my dumbo medal 🏅 (the two ‘5k’s’ I’ve done so far mapped in at 4.98 and 4.88 😩)
    I’m not going to stress about the job situation, as I won’t know until the beginning of April 🙄
