I challenge myself to go out and run at least 6 miles a week. I'm pretty motivated when training for half marathons (up to now I've always entered autumn ones) but I need to get out and get some runs in the rest of the time. Volunteering at parkrun is not an excuse to miss a run that weekend!!!

Nb On the occasion of snow, if this winter is anything like the last, then allowances can be made - as I live at the top of a hill I'm not risking the rest of this challenge by trying to run downhill on ice and snow ?

    10k Improvers training (2.98 and 2.12 miles) Monday and Wednesday was all I managed during week - well, I was supposed to be tapering. Then Chester Half marathon today 13.21 miles, had a brilliant morning, such a good course and we'll organised.

    Monday 10k improvers course training (hills!!!) 2.74 miles. Weds training 3.42 miles. Tourist at Hereford parkrun for 1st time 3.16 miles and finally "tapering" long run 6.02 miles.

    Club training on Weds 4.12 miles - the start of a 6 week 10k improvers course. Parkrun on Sat 3.05 miles then a long run on Sunday 12.01 miles, last long long run before my half.

    Monday was a bank holiday so I did last weekend's long run then - 11.53 miles. 2.76 miles at club training night. Run director at parkrun so no running there. Sunday, 1 mile run to meet Ross Runners then we drove to the Forest for a 9.03 run, not bad for suffering from a cough since Tuesday!

    I don't know what I keep doing wrong but last week's update wasn't showing on my challenge page so here it is again!

    Bank holiday weekend so treated myself to a lie-in today with the promise of my long run tomorrow. Monday was a recovery run of 3.55 miles my legs were so achy after last weekend's long run!), missed club training this week but did parkrun yesterday 3.04 miles.
    Total distance 6.59 miles - next week's mileage might be massive with 2 proposed long runs!

    Didn't get out too much this week with other stuff going on. Club training - we're now back at our summer location of the cricket club - 2.78 miles. Sunday was a long run - ran down to my lift (a mile but haven't counted that as forgot to press stop and it included some of the car journey - fastest couple of miles ever!), then Ross Runners met at a friend's house where we did a hilly 6 miles. They then stayed to enjoy a home cooked breakfast while I ran back home. Total distance for the Sunday run for me 11.03 miles.

    Apparently, I've been putting my updates in the wrong place so I'm just doing a quick update by copying the posts I did to have everything in the right place!

    Monday recovery run of 3.31 miles, missed club training as it was cold and sleeping and didn't want to aggravate cold which was almost gone. Saturday parkrun 3.02 miles and then Sunday Social with the club in Gloucester 10.53 miles.

    This week I was ill - stupid cold and belief that if I just rest today I'll get better. Sunday afternoon was suddenly here with no running so I managed a 6.37 mile run, despite not really wanting to today. And I made myself go up all the hills I wouldn't usually (well, if I'm not going to enjoy it I may as well chuck some hills in!).

    Got my mileage back up this week. Had Monday off so went for a run in the morning - 8.7 miles. Club training on Weds 1.9 miles. RD'd at parkrun so no miles there but did a Sunday Social with the club, with extra laps of the lake before and after the group run - 10 miles.

    So, after last week's panic at not making my target by 0.2 miles - and then realising I had met my target, I just forgot to check Strava and missed off a run! - a lesson has been learned! Always check Strava first!
    However, this week has been manic, I've hardly been in and therefore this week is easy - just one 6 mile run yesterday. Day off tomorrow so long run attempt then...

    Complicated week this week. Managed 2.8 miles at training and then was away visiting family. Did 3 miles at parkrun and just didn't realise that wouldn't add up to 6 miles!!!! Got another complicated week this week but it's getting lighter in mornings so will try to get out. Will continue with my challenge for me anyway... just need to get reorganised and be more aware of weeks like this!

    I am an idiot... just checked how far a route was that I did recently and realised it was Monday last week - 4.7 miles! I didn't do circuits and went for a run instead so as to make up the miles, then completely forgot about it. So... total distance 10.5!!!

    Circuits on Monday and the run club on Weds (2.8 miles). After missing last week I thought about skipping this one but very glad I didn't, thank you challenges!
    Long run on Sunday 9.4 miles. Lovely run - 6 miles in slight rain with Ross Runners with a bit extra at start and finish to meet them and get home.

    So, it went a little wrong this week. Not in terms of distance/my challenge but in my general fitness classes. I gave up my Monday circuits class in favour of a run with friends - 5.5 miles. Then I should have gone to club training followed by a free taster kettlebell class (which is why i decided to miss circuits) but events conspired against me - I couldn't get to Newent and I had things to do. First club training I've missed this year which is a shame. Saturday I made up for it in terms of distance however. First I joined Gloucester City for their 1st parkrun birthday, pb for my second visit there, and then straight after I went for a run along the river, so 3.1 miles plus 6.1. Hard going, need to step up the number of days I exercise, but glorious weather and was so glad to achieve a long run after parkrun!

    Circuits on Monday as normal then training on Weds 1.5 miles. I was Run Director at parkrun this week so no running for me on Sat, but an 8.5 mile run on Sunday with Ross Runners.

    Events as normal this week - circuits and club training (2.3 miles). Then Newent parkrun on Sat (3 miles - I must do better when setting up the course!) and this morning an 8 mile run with Ross Runners up and around Chase Woods.

    Circuits on Monday as usual, then managed to make it to a very cold club training session on Weds (2.6 miles). Then the snow came. Bit worried about running a long run in the lingering snow and ice so just went out at lunchtime on Sat and completed 4 miles.

    Circuits on Monday as is my new routine for now. Then club training on Weds, pyramid training on an icy Astro turf which resulted in 4.3 miles! It was so cold, I nearly didn't go (and wouldn't have done back in Nov/Dec) but it's thanks to this and my personal monthly target that I went and enjoyed it! Saturday was then Newent parkrun - Strava registered 2.9 miles for me, not sure why. Finally I did a Sunday Social run with the club in Symonds Yat - 7.3 miles - and applied for a charity place in the Swansea Half!

    Circuits on Monday - which my fitbit thinks included 2 miles of running. But I don't include that: only running stuff I can prove by Strava e.g. run club training/ parkruns/ social/solo/training runs. Run club night gave me 2.4 miles. Saturday was the National Running Show a brilliant day, thank you Medal Mad for the Soreen! Finally Sunday Running in Ross social run: 6.8 miles.

    So, this week I started a Circuits class, went to club training 3.7 miles (2 out of 2 sessions ain't bad, one more than I did in the entire of November and December!), and signed up for a half marathon... Chester in May, first time I've done one earlier than August, so I've already drawn up a training plan of what length long run I want to do each week, this should mean my 6 miles a week isn't in doubt between now and then - the most difficult thing will be to remember to write this :). I was Run Director at parkrun this week so no running on the Saturday, but I joined my club for a Sunday Road Social 5.8 miles.

    Brill start to the year. 2.5 miles hungover run on NYD - first time ever I've got out on the 1st of Jan! 2.9 miles at training - first training session I've been to since November. Finally Newent parkrun followed by a 4 mile trail run with the club.
