    I restarted C25K this week. Seems crazy when I'm doing 10k events, but I lost the ability to run more than a couple of km without walk breaks when I had some medical issues and took a break from running for almost a year, and I've not managed to improve on it. I'm hoping that this will be the kickstart I need. So I ran to work on Tuesday and Friday, and home from work on Wednesday. That's week 1 officially complete, but I plan to stick to week 1 this week as I donated blood on Saturday afternoon and that always knocks me for a while.

    Absolutley manic work at week - our office has 25 staff, and at this time of year we can have up to 7 off (4 on rest weeks, 3 on leave) - but this week we also had 2 on special leave and 2 off sick..... and then a third went off sick on Fri & Sat! Made for some looooong days I cycled to work on Monday, but left the bike there as I didn't have my lights and it was starting to turn to dusk by the time I left. So I walked home Monday, into work Tuesday, and cycled home Tuesday. I then walked the commute the other 4 days, and today I ran a 10k race I entered at the start of the year, and earned myself this medal

    I've been in the Lake District this week, but the weather hasn't been great We set out to attempt the Fairfield Horseshoe on Tuesday, but got driven back by rain and (mostly) wind before we reached the half-way point. Other than that we just did our regular 'nip over to Grasmere' to get some Gingerbread yesterday, when the weather had fortunately perked up a bit.

    Ooops! Whilst out on a walk this afternoon I suddenly remembered I hadn't posted my weekly update on here last night. I blame on it the fact that Saturday was my last working day of my 5th 6 day week (I'm now off this week as my 'rest week'), and I also did a late night run that day (had to travel from Manchester to Blackpool for a 9pm start, and didn't get home until close to midnight) so my body clock is all over the place and my brain was fairly addled yesterday

    So.......

    Recreational walking - 3.96 (my partner and I went out to walk around the route for a series of 5k races I'm debating entering next month - in a country park within 10 miles of where I've lived for almost 18 years, and I didn't know it was there. We're now planning to head back out on a few Sundays to explore it in more detail).

    Sunday 7th July - end of week 27

    Absolutely no mileage to add to my challenge total this week, though I did swim 1.09 miles and cycle another 10.36 miles.

    All change tomorrow, as my office transfer has happened rather faster than I expected. 9 days ago I was told it would be "at some point in the next 28 days", and on Wednesday (just 5 days later) I was told "you're moving on Monday"!

    I'm going to have to take the car in on Tuesday, as someone's dropping off three crisp boxes full of DVDs for me (and I can't carry those home on foot), but I don't plan to use the car as a regular transport method for commuting from here on in.

    Another poor week in terms of mileage, but a great week in terms of making a change to increase it on a weekly basis starting very soon....

    On Tuesday I applied for a transfer to another office, and on Friday I heard my application had been successful. The move means that instead of driving 22 miles a day to get to/from work, I'll be walking, running and cycling to/from work as the new-to-me office is just over 1.62 miles each way by the shortest route, and there's an alternative route that's exactly 5km. So that's a potential for anything from 16 to 31 miles a week (less any commutes I cycle). I don't have a date for the transfer to happen yet, but it has to be within 28 days which means before the end of July (giving me 5 months of the new commute to help catch up on my totals). It also means I can do 5k runs as my commute, and they'll only take about the same time as my drives to work do at the moment. So that's less pressure to find time outside of work to fit in my runs. I just need to get my sciatica under control now!!

    Other than work, the only exercise I've had this week was the Crazy Cow 10k on 23rd. Organisation was chaos before the date (asked the same question to the organiser on a regular basis, and was always told "I'll get back to you when I have the information" - still hadn't had an answer by the day of the run!). But the route (changed with less than a week to go due to a footbridge being declared unsafe for all use, and being closed by the council) wasn't bad. Chip time was a few seconds faster than my watch, which said 1:19'22 (I'm coming in at around 1:20 at all the 10k runs I'm doing at the moment, so much where I expected to be).

    No medal for this one !!! But I did get a cow bell (I signed up because of this being a bit different). I also - for the first time ever - purchased a race T-shirt (loved the design), and also two cow bells from previous years I'll now have to go out and run around home or work to earn (one is a 10k one, the other from the Crazy Calf 1 mile fun run which I'll probably do a 5k to 'earn' as there's no distance on it).

    I've come home today after spending just over a week in the Lake District (went up after work on 8th).
    On Monday we walked around Derwentwater, which was 10.45 miles.
    Had a lazy day of nothing on Tuesday.
    By Wednesday afternoon my legs were complaing about being static (I normally walk about 8 miles a day at work), so we dodged the rain to do a very short circuit to see if a horse was still in a local field (he's been there for years) - he was, and 0.79 miles done.
    On Thursday we did the first part of a walk we normally do when up there, then a stretch I've done a few times before, but my fella doesn't think hes' done before, and then did the home leg of another walk we normally do - another 4.01 miles,
    Friday we did some pruning in the garden (we always do some jobs for the owners when we stay there in return for the accomodation), so no mileage clocked up.
    Saturday we walked over to Grasmere and back (from Elterwater) to get our Gingerbread fix, and that added on another 5.76 miles.

    My day off work on Friday saw me doing a 4.42 mile circular walk from home in the rain with leaking waterproofs! I had to make contact with several firms and do some jobs around home, but nothing was going well or to plan so I got out to chill for a while, Today was a 4.59 mile circular with my fella at the start of a week off work for both of us - hoping to clock up some recreational walking miles (and possibly even some running) this week :(happy)

    Sunday 2nd June - end of week 22

    Running - 3.12 miles. Race for Life 5k today. Watch only showed 4.66km when I crossed the finish line, so I ran laps of the grassed area beyond it until it read 5.01 !!

    Recreational walking was made up of a 5.83 mile local walk with my fella on Bank Holiday Monday, and lots of walks of verious lengths on my day off on Thursday - 1.8 miles to my closest train station (earned my 2km Spiderman pin), 1.4 miles from the station at the other end of my train ride to meet friends (earned my 1km Hulk pin), 8.81 miles from Blackpool to Lytham, 1.89 miles from the end of the walk to the train station to see off some of my friends and then to my daughter's house (earned my 3km Captain Marvel (? I'm not well up on superheroes) pin), 1.18 miles from my daughter's house back to the train station, then a longer (2.76 mile) route home from my local station (to earn my 4km Captain America pin). So a total of 17.83 miles for the day - leaving home just before 6:45am and getting home a touch before 8:55pm.

    Recreational walking was made up of a 6.64 meander on my day off (Tuesday), 4.44 miles to A&E after work on Thursday and 4.79 miles home again via a different route due to time of night (I managed to get myself bitten on the back of my right hand by a dog so had to go and get a tetanus shot), a 5.82 'warm up for the weekend' walk with my fella after work on Saturday, and a 10.81 mile walk on Sunday.

    Running - 6.31 miles - Anderton Boat Lift 10k. Evil course that starts on a steep uphill, then hits another at 9.6km. But it finishes with a steep downhill, which meant I got my first ever sprint finish and first ever flying feet photo (actually got 5)

    Not a fantastic week, but had my worst week ever at work so I'm just happy I made it around the 10k run today! Not only did I spend the whole week on loan to a different office (at least they left me on the same round all week, which meant I got to grips with it), we also had loads of electoral leaflets to deliver which made for loooooong days. My 27.5hour working week became a 45.75hr week :O

    Recreational walking - 5.48 miles - as taking part in the Tatton Park run means we don't need to pay £7 parking and the weather was nice, we decided to take a packed lunch and spend a couple of hours exploring parts of the venue after the run
