A stressed out week with kids not getting the teachers we wanted for next year and problems with work meaning I was working until 11pm more than once this week took away all of my drive to get out there. I did manage to squeeze in 2 runs. Tuesday night and Thursday morning (I decided to claw back some of those extra hours and take a super long lunch break!) 5 miles in each. so at least hit my 10mile target for the week. I finished up on 8.08 per mile average pace on Tuesday and 8.30 per mile on Thursday. (it was hotter then, like - seriously hotter! and I wasn't as frustrated and angry on Thursday!) onwards and upwards, need to squeeze in a few more miles before next Sunday whilst I am still in my 30's!

Nothing exciting this week. I managed 3 runs, totalling just over 10miles, the hottest was actually the 3 mile 9pm run. I followed that with a 6mile coastal trot the following day and then a quick out and back run on Friday to buy tickets for Toy Story 4 for tomorrow. Can’t wait!!
Currently sitting somewhere around 275miles for the year, so on target for my 500

Only managed 8 miles this week as I had a busy week and was going away with my wife, just up to London to see Bon Jovi at Wembley (awesome show by the way!) then realised the hotel we stayed at had a gym, so hit the treadmill for 4miles Saturday morning.
I swear I was running faster than I normally do (average of 8:30 per mile pace) and was running for 40mins, but it said I was running ~9:30 per mile so only 4miles logged.
First time I’ve run on a treadmill for years and the first ever since I considered myself a runner. Boring isn’t it?? Found it hard going probably because of how hot I was and how monotonous it was. But really most disappointed with the pacing thing. Is this a treadmill thing??

Didn't manage too much. Was off camping last week with 700 cub scouts, so was drained all weekend devoid of any energy or enthusiasm. Monday I was back to work and had over 300 emails to deal with, which took me 2 days to action. I managed to get out for a 5 mile run on Wednesday, my first run in 2 weeks, which coincidentally was Global Running Day. Didn't manage to get out again, but hoping for a short run with Kieran tomorrow or Sunday before we head to Butlins for a week on Monday morning. Then I really do need to crack on as I've signed up to the run the board 225km challenge. Darn you MedalMad, you have me hooked on your challenges and fantastic bling! hahaha. Have to check out what others are available once I've finished this one (and buy a new Medal Hanger if I am going to keep getting these large medals!!)

Nothing major to cheer about this week. Kieran hasn't been feeling to great for the father and son run, so have been flying solo. only managed to get out for two runs this week, although, I did post 5.15miles on Tuesday at 8:28 per mile pace and followed that with an 8.19mile run on Wednesday at exactly the same pace.
Off camping with cub scouts from all across the UK from tomorrow until next Friday, so wont have anything to post next week, but back on it the following week before another break from running when I am at Butlins with the family for the week.

Snuck out of work on Tuesday for a cheeky 3.5 miles and then managed 8.1 on Wednesday morning despite being woken up at 5am. I didn't manage to get out at all on Friday as I was woken at 3am that day, so called into work sick to just have a chill out day. Took Kieran out for a 1 mile run on Saturday morning, just to ease him back in as he hasn't run for almost 3 weeks. He wanted to go further, until we got to about half a mile and he was struggling. I told him, I know what I'm doing son. you haven't run for a while, so first 1 or 2 runs you will find harder than they should be, but the fitness comes back even quicker than it dips. With this in mind, I'm aiming for a 2 tomorrow night then get him back on the 5ks.

11.5 miles this week. it's been a bit of a slow week without much opportunity to get out. it has also been raining. a lot. which has a somewhat negative impact on the enthusiasm and drive to get out there! 4 miles this morning, a 4.2 in torrential rain on Wednesday and a 3.2 on Tuesday

i'm somewhat confused, I seem to have 2 profile pictures and have been going on to my timeline each week to post what I have done, how I am getting on etc. This was part of the criteria when creating my own challenge, but am I doing it wrong? are those weekly posts meant to be on this page?

I've just signed up for a challenge that runs from June to August 31st and had the confirmation email and was hoping somebody could advise. Does the paragraph in my screenshot from this email mean that I can submit runs from now against this challenge and not just from 01June? If so, this will make things easier as Aug is school holidays so would be harder for me to get out running. If I can get my 225k done before they break up at the end of July that would be a real bonus!! Cheers in advance

double double strike this week. ran 5miles Tuesday lunchtime, then another 3 Tuesday night. Then headed out for another 3 Wednesday morning, with a 1.5 Wednesday afternoon.
Only short distances, but doing two in a day was a new challenge for me and strangely the second each day (although admittedly the shorter ones) felt much easier than the first, I thought I would be tired and struggle with them, hence the shorter distances. So, just over a half marathon distance covered this week. i'll take that

Kids back at school, back on it. 5 miles on Tuesday, 6 on Wednesday and then another 3.5 today. I struggled with those first couple of runs having been quite inactive for 2 weeks, but today's run seemed easier and I had an average pace of just over 8min/mile. shocking how quickly your running fitness drops off, but amazing how quickly it then comes back when you get back to it.
I also today received the London 26.2 monopoly medal in the post. I have to admit I feared it might be cheap looking or flimsy as the challenge wasn't expensive to enter, but it is a good looking solid bit of bling and I love it! I ran the 26.2 this month to earn the medal for my 8yr old son who has run a cumulative 26.2 in the 12runs he has completed since staring running with me a couple of months ago. He is going to be so absolutely stoked when he sees this!!! He'll probably just be a bit gutted he has to wait now until Monday to take it into school and show it off to his friends and his teacher! Also a running shoe keyring in the envelope which I will give him to put on his school backpack.
Thanks to all the team at MedalMad. My first ever virtual challenge and i'll definitely do another. Maybe even get Kieran to do one himself next time

Woohoo. Finally after 2 weeks of relative inactivity, I have completed my first ever virtual challenge! Evidence updated and progress bar just over 100% now. Anybody know if I have to do anything else or if the MedalMad team just see it over 100% and then dispatch the medal? Thanks

Another poor week. Managed to get two runs in, which is a slight improvement on last week, although total distance was just over 5miles as they were both runs with my 8yr old son and they brought him to a total mileage of 26.2. He was so proud, as was I. I have entered one of the challenges here for a monopoly themed marathon medal to present to him for achieving it, but the challenge requires 26.2 to be done in April. I've had 2 very slow weeks due to Easter school holidays, but I think I'm only just over 4miles short of that, so hopeful of getting a 4-5mile run in on Tuesday to complete the challenge and get the medal for him (can't run tomorrow as it's my younger son's birthday and we are out for the day)

A poor week. Kids off school made it impossible to get out for my regular day time runs, can't really leave Kim with 6 of them on her own. Kieran was at football camp for a few days, so wasn't up for our regular 3 mile run either (understandably!). They were staying up later due to not having to get up, so night time runs weren't even a possibility. I managed to squeeze one single run of 3.6miles in, but it's disappointing to miss my 10 miles so massively.
Kids off this week too, so not even sure I can do it this week, but am hopeful.

struggled this week. Kids are off school, so less opportunity to get out in the day and they are staying up later, so harder to get motivated to go at night as it's not possible until much later. Ran 3.6 yesterday and plan on doing the same again today, this time with my son. Then just need to find the time to get the other ~3miles in to hit my weekly target.
I know I can run much farther than 10miles per week. I ran 10miles in one go the last couple of Wednesdays, but it is weeks like this one when I just cant get out there that made me choose a lower weekly target. less likely to miss it and get despondent and lose motivation for not achieving it. Fingers crossed I can get out at the weekend for those final miles.

as well as my 500 miles for the year personal challenge, I signed up for a 26.2 miles in April for a London themed marathon medal. My 8 year old has started coming running with me, so wanted to get this medal so that I could present it to him when he gets to a cumulative total of 26.2miles. on just his 9th ever run, he is already up to 18 miles as we started with 1 mile runs and have gradually increased up to 3, his last run he beat his previous (and only) 5k PB and is now determined to go out more often. I planned, therefore, to run 3 miles on Monday, 5 on Tuesday, 10 on Wednesday, then another 3 Thursday followed by a 5 today. I could then complete the challenge ASAP and have the medal ready for him when he gets to 26.2 (as I haven't told him about this, I need the medal ready for when he gets there) unfortunately I had a bit of knee trouble, so didn't make it out at all until Wednesday and then only managed 5 miles. I squeezed in another 5 yesterday and had hoped to go out again today, but work is annoyingly getting in the way. so, I am up to 10miles for the month so far, just got to ensure I get the other 16.2 done as soon as I can before he gets his next 8 and hope that the medal arrives quickly. On the plus side, without realizing, I have managed to get my 10mile per week target done to keep me on track for my personal challenge

Was feeling a little down and struggling for motivation to get going with work on Monday, so went out for a 3 mile run to gee me up a bit. Then headed out again on Tuesday running just over 3 miles with my son, who managed no less than 6 PB's! including a sub 26min 5k and a sub 10min mile. he is only 8 years old and it is only his 9th ever run. super proud that he is even running that far already, nevermind the pace he is running it at!
I then headed out Wednesday morning and ran to my old place of work. I used to run the 5 miles there a couple of times a week and haven't done it for over 4 years now, so thought it would be both a nice change and a bit nostalgic to do it. obviously I didn't used to turn straight around and head home again in those days (wish I had...!) so managed to bank just over 10 miles there, which is my weekly target to keep me on course for my 500 for the year, shouldn't have any issues as I obviously also had the other 6 miles this week, but I still want a minimum of 10 per week, as a kind of secondary target, even after I have got to the 500

Just wondering if anybody knew roughly how.long it takes to verify evidence submitted and for medals to be despatched? I've entered a challenge for April for run around London, despite that, the medal is actually for my 8yr old son who has just started running with me. I wanted to give him a medal for when he completes 26.2 as a total distance. Only his 8th ever run last week and he is already doing 3miles, is currently on 14miles, so I probably only have 3 or 4 runs left before he gets there! Thanks

A first ever 5k run with my son this week. only his 8th ever run and already up to running over 3 miles. At 8 years old, I am so super impressed with him. I then went off on my own on Thursday for an 8 mile run, followed on Thursday by 3 miles of superstar level multi-tasking, running whilst dialed in to a Global Teleconference listening to upper management outlining our processes and corporate strategies etc. Actually learnt a few things, strange how running focuses the mind. When I am sat at my desk I drift off during those meetings (or update my social media...!!)

caught up from last week's poor return of miles with a 5 mile run on Monday, an 8 mile run on Wednesday morning, followed by a 2 mile run with my 8 year old Weds night. I then hit another 8.5 miles today attempting to do a heat map picture. it was supposed to be flowers in a vase for my wife for mother's day, but it really didn't look how I envisaged!
