This morning I was adamant I was not going for a run. My calves were too tight, walking was uncomfortable, and I wouldn't be able to.

Then I thought that it doesn't matter how fast I go just I do something. I could split it into 2 runs. Or even just do a shorter run today and make it up tomorrow. Doing something would be better than nothing. 👣 Eventually I convinced myself to go out. After a couple of miles I didn't notice the tightness quite so much and was more focused on form and efficiency. Soon I was able to imagine doing more than planned and then doing the full 10. 👣I you think you can't, maybe you can. But you will never know unless you try.

Short run home from work. The pavement is really rough in places, which means I sometimes run in the road. That pink rug feels incredibly soft☺️. 👣 I have been wearing minimalist shoes, intermittently, for a couple of years but decided this year I would commit to it as fully as possible. I sold my 40+ pairs of conventional footwear and wear minimalist shoes if I need to wear shoes at all. 👣I see posts by some people who day that they can feel the benefit of wearing minimalist shoes after their first use. They claim to notice the difference in hip alignment, or arch strength etc... all things being barefoot help improve. Personally I haven't noticed much of these advantages. The biggest change for me is being able to walk on, previously, unpleasant surfaces with relative ease. 👣 It's amazing if people can feel those improvements immediately but I think they are in the minority. Correcting decades in cramped shoes and misaligned joints will take time. Don't expect an instant change. I truly believe in the benefits and am in it for the long haul.

Probably one of the toughest runs I've done. Not because of the race but because of my injury. I wanted to give up at 18 miles but the mile markers kept on coming and I just kept on going.

Why don't fellow runners say hello?

My right leg is buggered at the moment. Had it strapped up as much as I can, without using actual supports, but it just hurts. I could take a couple of days off, as I have banked quite a few miles, but I think I should carry on regardless. The body will adapt (hopefully).

Be whoever you want to be, as long as it doesn't hurt others.

Today was the first time I've thought that maybe 10miles is too much. It's cold outside, I'm tired and my legs hurt but I am still able to run. If it was easy it wouldn't be a challenge and it wouldn't, hopefully, inspire anyone. "Nothing great ever happened in your comfort zone"

This felt like a loooong run. I just wanted to go back to bed. But 'needs must when the devil drives'. That is the saying right?

The morning's clearly have an effect on pace/performance. Is it that I'm not as limber, or that I haven't, eaten or just tiredness?

I wasn't expecting a frost this morning. Also wasn't expecting to see any of the sun rise. So far this year I've been getting home before the sun starts to rise.
