Go Team Hempsted!!
Working with Schools
Over the last few weeks (prior to school closures) MedalMad have been working closely with a small local primary school to help get more children running!
By supplying medals and resources to the school for each participating child we have motivated 50 children to take part in the school morning running club. The children vary in age from age 5 up to 11 and are encouraged to run as many laps of the school field as possible during the 20 mins running club which takes place before school, once a week. The school have also introduced the national 'Mile A Day' challenge where all children are taken outside every day to run a mile or whatever distance they can manage during the allotted time.
All children participating in the running club will be given a target distance to complete over a course of 6 weeks, the target will also include their 'mile a day' distance. At the end of the 6 weeks all children will be presented in assembly with a MedalMad medal, engraved with their completed distance and school name, along with a certificate!
The children are really excited about their challenge and it's great to see so many of them enjoying running. Keep up the good work Team Hempsted!!
This photo was taken after these little legs ran 17 laps of the school field – that's almost 2 miles - Well done!!
We can't wait to see the total distances the children reach at the end of the 6 weeks, however due to current events and school closure this will not continue now until the schools re-open. We hope that the children are inspired to continue to run (at a safe social distance!) with their parent or guardian during the school closure.
